Leland Forrest Henderson, Jr., 85 died Saturday, April 7, 2007 at the Providence Hospital in Waco, Texas. He was born August 26, 1921 in Boston, MA, the son of Leland F. and Courtney D. Crowther Henderson, Sr. He was reared in Dallas, graduating from Highland Park High School. He then attended SMU, receiving his BBA degree. He received his BS degree in geology from the University of Oklahoma. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army. He was employed as an investment broker for Harris Upham in Dallas and was a geologist for Creole Petroleum in Venezuela.
Leland is survived by a brother, Courtney D. Henderson, of Richardson, Texas; nieces, Constance Gladney Henderson Hansen, Carol Crowther Henderson and Nancy Page Henderson Thorsen; nephews, Courtney D. Henderson, Jr., Peter Louis Thorsen, Jr., David Leland Thorsen, Mark Wallace Thorsen and John Chaffee Thorsen; and nine great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Crowther Henderson.
Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2007 in Bonaventure Cemetery.
